This video tells the SECRET of how to actually overcome audio latency in your recording setup. Please take my 10 question survey http://www.surveymonkey.com/...
Hi Trav,...sorry about the delay...recording my new album and am obsessed with it lately. If you have your elec-drums or drum mics going through a Discreet Monitor Mixer there should be 0ms latency. If you're drums go through the DAW software, then you'll get tons of latency.
I agree, it's just room sound. which I'm currently re-acousticazizing for better sonic performance. It's good to do that every now and then to fine tune the room.
You have a diagram for download? Im using a 16 channel alesis in protools9 and latency on lowest setting is giving drummer a fit. We play faster death style music so the kicks sound almost doubled
Hi Nat - I'm not entirely sure why that would happen. I've never experienced this mysely, but I've read that a few people on the Cubase Forum have. You should definitely try the Cubase Forum. It's very helpful.
I use Alesis MultiMix 8 Firewire, that allows direct monitoring of musical instruments from the mixer, as well as 2 track coming back from my DAW. Since the mixer has 8 direct channels into my DAW via firewire, I can even record all 8 channels with 0 latency. I'm sure there are other mixers doing similar routing. Your explanation is good for USB 2 track in/out mixers. Thanks.
Please take a second to do my 10 question survey and help me decide what the next topic should be. Reverb? Compression? EQ? Getting spacial openness? The link is in the video description. Also it's here, sorta. Just add the "o" in c_m. surveymonkey.c_m/s/885T7QC
Yeah ok but I'm not a singer that would be a horrible sight lol. But I'm ordering a behringer 1202 mixer and a Alesia io2 interface and see if that beats my latency problem and connect them like you said
the problem, as I showed in the video, is that it's not possible to get zero latency with computer pass-through. you MUST monitor all your input devices BEFORE the computer, using a monitor mix setup. USB is just aweful. Sorry. USB will never allow you to be latency free, I'm sorry to say because it was never invented to actually do streaming input from mic's, guitars etc. But let's not let that stop Corporations from telling us how great their USB stuff is. ;)
Hi Scott, Ya, go out your channels into your interface but you can just use the regular stereo outs to go to your speakers. Don't let the word "monitor" confuse you, those would be for a 2nd set of, say, normal home speakers in another room as a reference. As long as your interface has it's stereo outs going to either a pair of L-R channels or a single "CD player" channel you'll hear all of your DAW tracks going into that. Happy Recording!
I'd like to thank you all for participating here. Great job guys! Stay tuned - I had some technical issues to overcome making descent videos, but I have it all figured out now (LOL) and you should be seeing new vids on a weekly basis, every Thursday.
dude, you totally fixed my latency issues. great explanition. got a mackie profx 8. sweet mixer and the way you said to hook it up worked perfectly! I can't thank you enough. like you said, gonna go and (finally) make better recordings
cheers for the info. I'm now that little bit wiser.
ОтветитьУдалитьWhere did you get that BBC t shirt?
John O'Rourke
thank you for great video!!! I've learned a few things here
ОтветитьУдалитьGood advice Would love to pick your brain thanks
ОтветитьУдалитьThanks for your help man, this really helped me out, this is the best way
ОтветитьУдалитьthanks a lot
How do you get zero latency in sequoia 11
ОтветитьУдалитьafter doing some testing I was wrong. Cubase maxes out at 24bits. the 32bit
ОтветитьУдалитьfiles are for if you want plugins to work when tracking.

hahaha...you're very welcome.
ОтветитьУдалитьHi chplass, 24 is fine. If you're using Cubase @32 the files are still 24 +
ОтветитьУдалить8bits for Cubase internal stuff.

Thanks for the good word. I really want to do more vids for you guys, but
ОтветитьУдалитьI'm doing the new album and it's really crushing my time. Soon though.
anything done totally inside the comp will have latency. it's just the

let me know if there's anything else you care about in the topic of
ОтветитьУдалитьrecording. maybe post a nice clip of your singing! :)
Ya, that's what I assumed also. Until I redo my sonics next month I'll have
ОтветитьУдалитьto live with that bit of ringing that I get in there.
